Today, we have really good news to share about the jailbreak community in a whole. Over the last few weeks many have been worried about the future development of the jailbreak and began to lose hope thinking that Pod2G’s actions were because Apple had “defeated jailbreaking” which is not true. Pod2G’s tweet has posted to Reddit which was then commented on by another popular hacked Planetbeing. If you recall from our interview here, he is highly trusted and one of Pod2G’s favorite to work with.
Planetbeing claims he has been working and developed an untethered jailbreak for his iPhone 5. The two reasons they are not ready to release it are that 6.1 is coming soon and they want to use their exploit to aid future development. Hopefully we will see 6.1 in the near future and possibly a jailbreak to come with it. In the past all new jailbreaks have encompassed all devices so I see no reason why anyone should be left out.
As always we will report on any releases immediately so follow, like, and subscribe to stay updated.
Yeah, I’m not really sure what all the doom and gloom is about. The fact is, I have an untethered iOS 6.0.2 JB running on my iPhone 5 right now. The reasons it’s not released are because 1. releasing it would burn an exploit we want to save for ourselves so we can always get in to look at new firmware and help JB in the future, 2. iOS 6.1 is coming very soon and will likely break a small part of it anyway, there’s no point in sacrificing the many bugs it won’t break.
Anyway, where there are 4+ bugs (that it took to get this to work), there’s gotta be one or two more so while jailbreaking is getting harder, reports of its death are highly exaggerated.
This is not stuff I want to say over Twitter with 140 characters because I’m afraid of starting some sort of riot, but I like the smaller /r/jailbreak community more. ;)
