Yesterday, I attended the Gadget Show Live press day, here in the UK. If you don’t know, it’s a convention aimed for companies to display their tech and gaming items to consumer and members of the press. This year was mainly gaming focused, however there were quite a few booths devoted to iPhones and iOS related products – one of the more exciting ones there, was MendMyi. MendMyi are a british based iDevice repair company, however they also provide a fantastic service called ‘Colour Lab‘, where they convert the colour of your iOS device. I got a few minutes to shoot some footage of a white and red iPhone 5, and that short video is below:

Unlike the huge amount of companies that perform colour conversions for the iPhone 4/4S, this is also compatible with the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 contains anodised aluminium, which means it can be re-anodised to become a different colour – that is what MendMyi do. It’s also much more hardwaring than Apple’s coating, so won’t chip off as easily.

I’m going to be getting my iPhone 5 fully colour lab’d in the next few weeks, so I will keep you informed on the full details. I will also be able to provide much more efficient video footage, and even a review.

Seems pointless to me. Just buy a $10 skin. That’s what I did on mine, and it looks b-eautiful. 100 # is about $150 US dollars. So for 75% of a phone, you can color it. What a waste.
