Just a week after the release of iOS 5.1, developer/jailbreaker i0n1c has demoed a jailbreak for the new firmware on newer devices. As we reported earlier, pod2g, the one behind the iOS has been searching for vulnerabilities in the software, but i0n1c seems to have beaten him. I0n1c is known for the previous iOS 4.3.x untethered jailbreak exploits.

All we have now is a series of pictures showing Cydia running on the iPad 2. Currently, we do not know if this jailbreak is untethered or not, or when we will be seeing a public release, but we can now know that it won’t be much longer before we see a public release.

Since the jailbreak works for the iPad 2 it should also work with the iPhone 4s. All other devices can currently be jailbroken using this tutorial.
