We have some disappointing news today for people who are waiting on the edge of their seats for a jailbreak. According to Stefan Esser (a.k.a. @i0n1c on Twitter), Apple’s iOS 6.1 beta includes security fixes for a yet unseen iOS 6 jailbreak:
There must have been some change of guard at Apple.iOS6.1 adds again tougher protections although public JB community hasn’t broken iOS6 yet
So it seems as though Apple is taking a step up security-wise. There is no official word on what this means for future jailbreaks, but it will no doubt make them harder. For now, everyone is recommended to say on iOS 6.0.x once the public release of iOS 6.1 rolls around, since it could be even longer before a jailbreak for that version is seen. Stay tuned for more news on the iOS 6 jailbreak.
