One of the most popular rumors about the iPad 3 has been that it will sport a retina display, like the iPhone and iPod Touch. Now, MacRumors claims to have confirmed this rumor.
The folks at MacRumors have somehow managed to get their hands on an iPad 3 display being used in production, and took it to the microscope to confirm once and for all if it will have the upgraded resolution so many people have been waiting for. See the results below.
As you can see, the pixels on the iPad 3 screen are twice as dense as those on the iPad 2. This puts the resolution of the iPad 3 at 2048×1536 pixels. Additionally, MacRumors is a fairly reliable source, so it is almost sure now that we will be seeing a retina display on the iPad 3.
