Wearable tech just seems to be the business to be in this year. Pebble ended up breaking all of Kickstarter’s records, and has already started shipping their iOS compatible Smart watch, and it’s no surprise that Apple want their share of the market. A report published by Bloomberg this morning suggests that Apple will be releasing an iWatch. Not only that; it will be released sometime late this year.
The proposed ‘Apple Smart watch’ will also run a full version of iOS, if rumours are to be believed. This poses a number of complications, like battery life among the most prominent. I originally thought they would have developed something proprietary like we saw on the iPod Nano 7th generation last year.
A watch of this nature could be a huge potential earner for Apple. If the pricing is right – sub $250 in my opinion – every iPhone owner will want to own one, and that’s a huge potential market. The Bloomberg report incites that the watch ‘Could Be More Profitable Than TV’, which would be convenient considering that Apple wouldn’t need to sort contracts with TV networks, and that they have already created the demand for an iDevice compatible watch.
Personally, I can’t wait to try the ‘iWatch’, but I can imagine myself getting tired of it very quickly. What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments.
