With iOS 7 only a few hours away everyone is asking us if it jailbreak safe to update to the new version of iOS. The truth is the 7.0 firmware is what all the hackers will be focusing on and the chances at a jailbreak for 6.1.3 or 6.1.4 is very slim. But, if you currently have a jailbreak updating will lose you any chance of using jailbreak features until the next jailbreak release. Some people may recommend staying on the late iOS 6 firmwares, however, I don’t see much of a safety difference, and if you are excited as me you will probably update your phone anyways. Because most people are going to do this anyways, it really doesn’t make sense for any jailbreak updates to not support 7.0 as they will have to be part of an entirely new effort held by the development teams.
The next jailbreak to be released will most likely work for every new and old iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad completely untethered. The release date is not known as it hardly ever is and could take as little as a few weeks to what I predict as a month or even longer. Apple will probably patch the jailbreak in the next few weeks after so make sure to check back constantly for updates.
Given that I personally am getting an iPhone 5S in a few days I will probably not update my current phone as to preserve the Evasi0n jailbreak is has loaded onto it. That being said, I would prefer to use iOS 7 with its introduced features and it is understandable that users would want to update from the very old 6.1.2 or under. So with all that said we recommend updating if you are on 6.1.3/6.1.4 and only doing so from 6.0-6.1.2 if you can go without a jailbreak for a while.
Thanks for reading and we hope to bring more 7.0 jailbreak news in the future.
