The Modbook is a product developed by a company that essentially takes a Macbook and reconstructs in into a touch screen tablet device. The original creation was made its way into the market before the fist generation iPad. Since then there has been relatively little news from the company until now. Their new product, the Modbook pro is similar to before as it takes a newer model of the Macbook pro and turns it into a functioning tablet. The modded device still runs Mac OS X and works like any Mac laptop. While there is no price tag as of yet, it is fairly certain that the device will cost far more than the normal Macbook as it has in the past. While it may look similar to an iPad the two devices are far different. The Modbook contains a different OS along with a different touch screen that uses a stylus. The Modbook Pro ships early fall, more details are listed on their site.
The Modbook Pro’s configurable base system includes a 2.5GHz dual core Intel® Core™ i5 processor or 2.9GHz dual core Intel Core i7 processor, up to 16GB of RAM, a 2.5–inch SATA drive (up to 1TB HDD or up to 960GB SSD), an 8X SuperDrive® DVD burner, an Intel HD Graphics 4000 chipset, 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless connectivity capability, a built-in 63.5-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery and a 60W MagSafe® power adapter.1
