December 10th Update: Pokedex for iOS was introduced into the North American and European stores and can be downloaded for $1.99 here. Each expansion will cost $5.99 via Apple’s in app purchasing system.
Today, Nintendo (the creators of Pokemon) released ‘Pokedex for iOS’ their first paid application. Currently the app is only available on the Japan store and can not be downloaded with a United States or United Kingdom based account. If you do have a Japanese account it will cost you 170 yen which is approximately £1.30 or $2.00. Each region will cost you an additional 500 yen through in app purchases. Download

While the Pokedex is not much itself it does hint at the series further iOS envolvement. Nintendo had previously released an application named ‘Pokemon Say Tap’ but it was only available in Japan and was pulled quickly after release. It may be a long time for the full version to reach mobile phones, if ever. Giving up a DS exclusive title would be a bad business decision for Nintendo as they don’t want to lose customers that would have originally boughten a DS solely for the game. As always we will report on any updates, if you are jailbroken you can already play many full games using our tutorial here.
